Director's Notes
The 2015 LBJGA season is more than half over!
This summer we will continue to meet every Friday with the exception of Friday July 3rd.
The LBJGA will also give our members the opportunity to play Recreation Park 9 GC on Tuesday afternoons at 1pm beginning July 7th. Please note the entry form on page 3 for further details.
I do want to thank everyone who contributed to our 24th annual D-day tournament and fundraiser. Once again we raised over $5000 for the LBJGA. These funds enable us to keep our registration fees at $50 per year, as well as fund extras for our junior tournaments and special awards. This year it was gratifying to see more of our members and their families participate.
Congratulations to Kaylie Nguyen for winning the Callaway Golf Clubs!
Please mark your 2016 calendars for June 11th, which will mark our 25th annual D-day Event!
This summer Sheri and I would like to remind everyone to be careful when dropping off your junior golfers on Friday play days. Please do not block traffic in the Heartwell parking lot. We would appreciate if all junior golf adults would park and walk your players in and out. We have never had a safety issue, however Sheri and I are very aware of keeping our members safe while they are with us at our events.
Please review the information regarding Friday play days on the last page of this newsletter.
Let's all have a fun filled summer!
For questions, concerns, or general information please call Sheri or myself at (562) 570-1272.
Volunteer Opportunities
When you join the LBJGA everyone is required to attend our new member orientation meeting.
During the orientation process we do ask all parents to plan to volunteer.
Unfortunately as juniors progress through our program the level of parent participation seems to drop off dramatically!
We desperately need parents to walk and supervise golfers every Friday. Our 18 hole players need walkers!
Please remember...we want your kids to have a great time playing golf, but foreveryone to have a positive experience we need help supervising play every Friday.
Also remember Lisa and Sheri are the staff of LBJGA. Everyone else you see at our events are volunteers. This summer we will need table workers, starters, marshals, and walkers.
We are constantly striving to improve the experience of our members, but we need the help of volunteers to achieve our goals.
If you are interested in any of our volunteer jobs please contact Lisa or Sheri at (562) 570-1272.
LBJGA Dress Code
Members are to wear their uniforms on all Friday play days including special events. All junior golfers are to conduct themselves in a manner which acknowledges the etiquette, rules and history of the game of golf.
The uniform consists of:
- The LBJGA issued red shirt. Tucked in at all times.
- Pants or shorts of any solid color.
- Girls may wear skirts that reach mid-thigh in length.
- Golf or tennis shoes.
- The LBJGA issued cap or visor, worn with the bill facing forward.
- Hair must be neatly combed.
- LBJGA issued sweatshirt.
Note:
- Blue jeans, denims, sweat pants, baggy cargo pants, board shorts, basketball shorts and ‘skinny jeans’ may not be worn at any time.
- Only the LBJGA caps and visors may be worn with the bill facing forward.
- Uniforms must be clean and not wrinkled.
Extra shirts and sweatshirts are available for sale at the check-in table. As a junior golfer grows you may trade in your current uniform for a larger size.
Remember, if you are not in uniform you will not be allowed to participate.
